Release news – ScholarOne 4.19

There has recently been a new ScholarOne release which has updated the look of the ScholarOne home page and menu, as well as the author dashboard and submission interface. The key changes are:

New "Home" page

The previous "Main Menu” page which showed your Editor and Admin centres has been changed into a new "Home" page which can be customized to have welcome text and images that relate to the journal, such as journal or society banners, submission instructions, or anything else the journal would like to announce.

The links to centres have been moved into a new top-level navigation within the header, as described below.

As there is no specific wording that works for all journal sites, the name of the journal and an image that works with all brand colours has been placed as a filler until it has been replaced with journal-specific message and imagery.

Top-level menu

To save you clicks and time, the centre links have been moved to the header on every page. This allows you to navigate between them more quickly, instead of going back to the "Main Menu" page each time. The centres have been grouped into related categories: "Author", "Review" and "Manage", and users will only see the tabs and centres corresponding to their permissions. Current centre labels, displayed in the drop down, will remain unchanged. The categories are:

  • Home - Home page (previously named “Main Menu”)
  • Author - Author centre
  • Review - Reviewer centre
  • Manage - Admin and Editor centre(s)

The new drop down menu looks like this:

Redesigned author dashboard and submission interface enhancements

The brand new author dashboard has been designed around usability and convenience, and now sports the same look and feel as the submission centre. Each queue now has its own page and instructions area. The new side navigation has been tailored to the author as well, and will only show queues that have submissions to help authors find their submissions quickly and easily.

ORCID collection for submitting authors

The new update includes functionality to seamlessly collect an ORCID from the submitting author on a paper during the submission workflow.
